8th Annual EuroTech 2016 Words and Photos by Elizabeth Brown
On Saturday, April 16, 2016, about 20 Volvos (1800, 122s, 240s, 740s, 940, 780, S70, V70R) and their owners arrived in Rancho Cordova, CA from the Bay Area to Nevada for the Sac Volvo Club’s 8th Annual EuroTech Tech Session, Lunch, and Planning Meeting event.
This event has quietly grown in popularity over the years as word spreads that Peter Mausolff opens his shop up, makes his lift available, and runs a free-flow Tech Session format where any Volvo owner can have their questions answered by a Volvo mechanic while also enjoying a Cars and Coffee Car Show in the parking lot.
In the community spirit that has grown around this event, a number of volunteers helped to ensure the success of this year’s event: -Michal Vachuska coordinated the EuroTech Tech Session details. -Nate Corey, Steve Owsley, and Missy Puckett generously donated coffee and donuts for everyone.
The Tech Session and Car Show was followed by a relaxed lunch and productive planning meeting at the Lots of Luck Chinese Restaurant in Rancho Cordova, CA, who has also been a gracious part of this event for the past eight years.
The planning meeting covered a lot of important topics in the Northern California area: -Sac Volvo Club 2016 Event Calendar -GGVCOA Club Status- Gary Lodge volunteered to contact VCOA National regarding becoming the next GGVCOA President -Davis 2016 information update and Davis 2017 discussion

On June 11th, the Sacramento Chapter hosted its 9th annual “Swedish Day,” at IKEA in West Sacramento. The event consisted of a car show, followed by a Swedish lunch, and business planning meeting for the remainder of the year.
More than 30 cars and 40+ club and family members arrived, making this year the most highly attended over the nine year period. Volvo models were well represented with one or more 544, 122, 1800, 140, 240, 780 and 900 vehicles, as well as a number of 850, S60 and V70 series cars. As we always invite Saab owners to this annual event, a driver of a later all-wheel drive “Saabaru,” was present.
Following the car show, a recognition event was held, and an award presented to Mark Baldwin, former Sacramento Chapter President (2011 – 2013). The award was presented by current Sacramento Chapter president, Walter Donnell, on behalf of the Sacramento Volvo Club Planning Committee. Much of our planning meeting centered on details and upcoming responsibilities for the annual Davis, California car show. The Sacramento chapter is leading the effort with the cooperation of the newly-reformed Golden Gate Chapter in setting up the 2017 show in the Spring.
