President's Corner

October, 2010

I want to let you know that I will be passing the torch as Sacramento Chapter President in late November - December to club member, Mark Baldwin.  No doubt many of you know Mark as well as his beloved blue ’97 850 T-5.  Mark has planned many events for the Sacramento Chapter in the past years.  This year he planned the Volvo Independent Service tech session, and the very successful Autocross at the former Mather Air Force Base.  Mark is enthusiastic about the breadth of Volvo models and our clubs activities.  He also has a natural leadership attitude, and will work well with the Golden Gate Chapter when collaboration is necessary.  Mark will lead the 2011 planning session in December.  I will attend, and will be supportive on the directions he may wish to take the club with your cooperation.  You will be hearing from Mark soon via email as to his vision for leading our club activities in 2011.

I have enjoyed hosting activities with many of you over the last three years.   I especially appreciate the breadth of experience, organizational efforts and advice that you have offered for me and the club.  I will still be around, and hope to plan or co-plan one or two events with you and Mark in 2011. Volvo’s are great cars.  Over the years, I and members of my family have owned eight of them, from 122 models to S80’s.  Meanwhile, I need to get to work on some lingering projects on my ’66 Volvo 122S and ’72 Saab Sonett (yes it was me who snuck a Saab into our IKEA event last June)!

Sincerely,

Jeff Molander
Sacramento Chapter President, Volvo Club of America        (President from 2008 - 2010)
